SIDELL - Wayne Hooker, 90, of Sidell, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016, at the Veterans Hospital in Danville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Joines Funeral Home, 401 W. Gillogly St., Newman with Craig Roller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Wayne was born July 13, 1926, in Rose Hill, Ill., a son of Marion and Inez Boring Hooker.
He married Phyllis Edwards on Jan. 1, 1953. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Surviving are one son, Glen (Shelly) Hooker, Sidell; one grandson, Joshua Hooker, Sidell; and one brother, Ronald Hooker, Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Wayne was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was a farmer in the Sidell area.
Memorials made be given to the donor's choice.
