Westville, Illinois - Sylvia Ann Sleva, 90, of Westville, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, where she had been a resident for the past 5 years.

Sylvia was born March 20, 1935 at home in Westville to John and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Sleva. She was the second of 5 children. She attended Saint Mary's School and graduated from Westville High School in 1953. Upon graduation from high school, Sylvia was employed by Noble Motors Ford in Danville before moving on to work for the Department of Agriculture. She ultimately found her passion at the Danville Junior College (later Danville Area Community College) in the Records Department. She took pride in her work, enjoyed interacting with people, and retired in 2000, yet never stepped away from the educational service by helping teach English as a second language as a community volunteer. She also enjoyed working in her garden, tending to her flowers and fruit trees, and had a love for all neighborhood animals.

She is survived by her brother John (Sharon) Sleva and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Marie (Sleva) Quick, Mark Sleva, and Barbara (Sleva) Kotcher, and one nephew, Aaron Sleva.

A visitation will be held from 10 am - 11:30 am on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home's Urbas Chapel, located at 414 S. State Street in Westville. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 that morning. Burial will be in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Sylvia's name to the Westville Library or the Westville Depot.
