CAYUGA, IND. - Sherrill Lee (Corey) Wilson, 72, of Cayuga, passed away at 6:25 a.m. EST Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at her residence.

She was born on March 17, 1944 in Danville, the daughter of the late Lee and Betty (Coffing) Corey.

Sherrill graduated from Covington High School in 1962. She worked at Community Action in Covington, Ind. and Cayuga Red & White for 16 years.

Her first marriage was to the late Ronald Abernathy. She later married Joe Wilson on Sept. 16, 1977 in Danville. She is survived by her husband of 39 years.

Sherrill also leaves her three children: Hope Carlson (Steve) of Seymour, Ill., Melanie Newman (Alan) of Pemberville, Ohio, and Corey Wilson (Sarah) of New Richmond, Ind. Also, she leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Audrey Carlson of Champaign, Patrick Jennings of Chicago, Ethan Carlson of Seymour, Ill., Hope Harvey of Pemberville, Ohio, Finley and Amelia Wilson of New Richmond, Ind., and Joe's three children: Joe Paul (Linda) and Tim (Cindy), both of Cayuga, Ind. and Sally Ratcliff (Hardy) of Kingman, Ind.

Sherrill enjoyed reading and gardening. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren.

Memorial services: 8 p.m. EST Tuesday, Dec. 27, at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Ind.; Officiating: Steve Carlson; Visitation: 6-8 p.m. EST Tuesday, Dec. 27 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Ind.
