Family & friends, please join us to celebrate her life, share stories and show love for the beautiful person she was. All are welcome!
Pat loved GOD, her family and her friends. Pat befriended almost everyone she met. Her connections were genuine. She would pray for her family, friends and even people she had just met. She was loving, devoted, kind, loyal, caring, forgiving, protective, empathetic, funny and stubborn. Anyone who knew her well, knows that she was all of those things. She always had a smile or a joke.
Over the last few years, she had some wonderful caregivers, including Sharon Polson, who styled her hair beautifully. Tonya Wilson was the absolute best. Pat "schooled" Tonya on her routine, what went where, which towel is for drying your hands and which is for drying dishes and how to put the toilet paper roll on (over) just to name a few. She loved Tonya like a daughter. We would tease her that Tonya was her favorite daughter.
Her jobs over the years were as an office worker, "Household CEO", waitressing and being an Assistant Manager at Pizza Hut, where she met, and worked alongside her lifelong friend for over 40 years, Mary Bognar.
Her favorite and most rewarding job, though, was being "Mom". She loved her daughters fiercely and unconditionally, even after they became adults with their own families. She always put their needs ahead of her own. She could whip up a hot, nutritious meal even when the cabinets weren't very full. Her meals were always delicious, with the exception of liver & onions. She attended more children's Christmas programs than anyone could count, she was a room-mother, a chauffeur and a therapist, and attended her daughter's sports games, even though she didn't understand all the rules. She did everything she could in order to always "be present" in their lives and to show them she was in their corner.
Pat enjoyed the Thursday "Gatherings" at the Fire Station. She didn't care if she won or lost; she just enjoyed playing and being around her friends and of course, Kenny's baked goods. The same was true when playing games with her family. She just enjoyed being part of whatever was going on.
Pat & Bob were married for 62 years. They endured a lot, but overcame. When her physical health left her unable to walk more than 1 room at a time, he was her legs and waited on her.
Pat was a worrier, and it was definitely a "Hicks" trait. She would always tell or text her daughters and grandchildren "Let me know when you get home". I miss that!
