Nita Jo "Nita, Nanny" (Newman) Mott Parrish, 70, of Vacaville, Calif., died on May 3, 2016. Formerly of Cayuga, Ind., Nita Jo was born in Clinton, Ind. Nov. 14, 1945 to Dillon "Pickle" and Mary Jane (Meeker) Newman. She was a member of Eugene Methodist Church for many years.

Nita Jo married Gary Mott, of Cayuga, and they had three children: Dawn (Jonathan) Hughes of Surprise, Ariz., DiLowell (Sue) Mott of Titusville, Fla., Daman (Deanna) Mott of Vacaville, Calif. Nita and Gary had the good fortune to live in several places overseas, but she was always happy to get back home to Cayuga. Nita worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years and also provided in home health care for several local families and loved caring for patients. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, going to auctions, collecting costume jewelry, but most of all she loved collecting Elvis memorabilia. She later married Jim Parrish and they enjoyed going to NASCAR races together. In 2007, she moved to Vacaville with Daman's family and lived this past year at Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center where she loved to play bingo, poker, and other games with her friends, but she especially enjoyed listening to music and watching the hummingbirds on the patio with her friend, Ron.

Besides her children, "Nanny" leaves behind 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sister Tina (Tim) Cox of Rockville, Ind., two nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jim Parrish.

Nita Jo will be deeply missed. In accordance with her wishes there will be a private ceremony this summer. Memorial contributions can be made to Cayuga American Legion.
