palm harbor, Florida - Nancy "Nana" Catherine Scarlett (Roark) passed peacefully to heaven on 8/4/2026 at the age of 82. Daughter of Clarence and Catherine Roark, Nancy grew up in Hoopeston Illinois where she held many wonderful memories of growing up with her Mom and Dad and her eight siblings. Nancy married the love of her life, Gary Scarlett on September 5, 1964 they shared over 61 years of marriage. Together they created a beautiful life, raising two boys, Richard and Chuck, and became a proud Nana to 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Nancy received her RN from Saint Elizabeth School of Nursing in Danville, Illinois and later continued her education at Eastern Illinois University where she received her BSN and Northern Illinois University where she received her MSN. Nancy was so proud to be a nurse and loved caring for people. Nancy devoted her time in nursing roles, spanning from hospice care, home health and teaching nursing students at Eastern Kentucky University.

Nancy was very active in her catholic faith and spent a lot of her free time giving back to her community through various church activities such as offering nursing support and volunteer office staff member at St. Claire church in Berea, KY. Nancy also enjoyed participating in social groups ranging from crafts, sowing, quilting and cooking as well as their beloved coffee group that met at Berea Coffee and Tea weekly.

Nancy was preceded to heaven by her parents Clarence and Catherine Roark, and her siblings David, Pat, Richard, Mike (Del), and Eleanor.

Nancy is survived in loving memory by her husband Gary, her sons, Richard (Tricia) Scarlett, and Chuck (Kristie) Scarlett, her grandchildren, Christan, Kailie, Brent, Keaton and Brody, her 6 great-grandchildren, as well as her brothers Roy (Sharon) and Keith(Paula) and sister Barbara.
