Millard F. Cates, 98, of rural Veedersburg, passed away 9:30 AM Saturday October 8, 2022 at his residence where he had lived since 1962.

Millard was born March 11, 1924 in Cates Indiana the son of Robert M. and Bessie F. (Summers) Cates. He married Grace Elizabeth Bowman May 23, 1944 in Crawfordsville, IN; she has preceded him in death June 22, 2012.

He is also preceded in death by his twin brother, Willard Cates; three sisters, Nixola Ervin, Belinda Kelch, Lestina Johnson; an infant sister Berdinia Cates; a son in law Hardy Keeling; a grandson, Raymond Cates; and a granddaughter, Twylia Hollis.

Surviving family includes a daughter, Judy Keeling, Veedersburg; a son Steve (Deb) Cates, Veedersburg; eight grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; and three great - great- grandchildren.

Millard was a long time member of the Church of the Nazarene and more recently at the Veedersburg Church of God. He was a Golden Eagle Member of the NRA. He was employed for many years at General Motors in Tilton Illinois; retiring from there in 1988.

Visitation is 4:00 - 7:00 PM (EST) Wednesday October 12, 2022 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, IN. Funeral is 11:00 AM (EST) Thursday October 13, 2022 at Dickerson Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Moss officiating. Burial will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
