Mildred Grace Yates Obituary
Mildred Grace Yates, 95, of Rantoul and formerly of Rankin, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at Eagles View Assisted Living in Rantoul. She was born on June 10, 1921 in Potomac, the daughter of Jesse and Mary Selsor Alexander.
Mildred married E. Harrison Yates in Armstrong on Nov. 30, 1940 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1999. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; one son-in-law, Larry Rothery; and one granddaughter, Angela Yates.
Surviving are two sons, Samuel (Bev) Yates of Cayuga, Ind. and Richard (Carol) Yates of Portage, Ind.; one daughter, Joyce (Dennis) Weber of Rankin; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Yates farmed in the Rankin area for over 40 years. She enjoyed taking her grandkids camping and was a Cub Scout den mother when her children were younger. Mildred was very proud of being a Deputy County Clerk in Ford County for 16 years. She enjoyed spending the winters in Tavares, Fla. with many friends and family.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Rankin United Methodist Church in Rankin. Pastor Molly Spence-Hawk will officiate. Burial will follow in Rankin Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Rankin Lions Club or Rankin United Methodist Church.
