Danville, IL - Melody Alice Williams, 71, of Danville, IL departed this life and joined the angels while surrounded by loved ones at 2:45 AM on July 2, 2025 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL.

Melody was born on September 3, 1953 the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Reling) Bush in Michigan City, IN. She spent her early life in Chesterton, IN, met her future husband John through Explorer Scouting, and they married June 16, 1973. Those that knew them admired their love and dedication to each other through thick and thin.

Survivors include her husband, John Williams of Danville, IL, her son, Jason Williams of Danville, IL and her daughter, Carrie (Christopher) Ulrich of Evansville, IN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Landan and Kadynce Ulrich; four siblings, Dave (Kathy) Bush of Knox, IN; Jeff (Rhea) Bush of Atlanta, GA; Dorothy Janette (Dennis) Sheil of Ocala, FL; and Jo Ellen Baadsgaard of Chesterton, IN, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Melody was a member of the Union Corner United Methodist Church and served her country in the United States Air Force. She spent most of her life in the Midwest, and settled in Danville 19 years ago. She worked part-time at the Danville Public Library for most of those years and was passionate about genealogy, spending much of her time helping and teaching others about researching their family histories. One result of her personal research led her to become a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and she shared and led several others over the years to make their own discoveries. She was devoted to her church families, and with every move made it a priority to find a new one, often serving as liturgist. She loved her family deeply and will be missed beyond description.

Visitation and viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N Vermilion Street, Danville, Illinois 61834. Memorial Service officiated by Pastor Patti Wise will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, also at Sunset Funeral Home. Cremation and private service will be held at a later date at Danville National Cemetery.
