Maya Pope, 92, of Danville, Ill., passed away April 30, 2018, at North Logan Health Care.
Maya was born August 28, 1925, to Stainalas and Paula Czerwinski in Roncourt, France.
She was married to Harold Pope on October 17, 1945, while he was stationed in France during WWII.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Pope; mother, Paula Czerwinski; husband, Harold Pope; and her great-great-grandson, Judson Price.
She is survived by her children, Gloria (Jerry) McKenzie of Yuba City, Calif., Ann (Steve) Stuckey of Sun City, Ariz., John "Paul" (JoAnn) Pope of Danville, and Pam (Blacky) Blackburn of Danville. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and her lifelong friend, Donna Bueche.
Maya enjoyed shopping, decorating, gardening, cooking, and her dog, Beabea. We are grateful for all the times she brought her family together for family meals and she will be missed.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, has been entrusted with arrangements. Per Maya's request, there will not be services.
