Marcia Prasse Obituary
Marcia Lynn Prasse (nee Ravens), of Wellington passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at her home in Wellington. She was born on July 15, 1942, in Watseka, the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (Hoel) Ravens. She married Earl Prasse on July 25, 1970, in Wellington. Marcia was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville.
Surviving are her brother, Wes (Charlene) Ravens; her two daughters, Jill (Bradley) Smith of Danville and Jane Prasse of Mahtomedi, MN; one son, Kyle (Kate) Prasse of Elmhurst; three grandchildren, Brooke Prasse, Cole Prasse and Reagan "Ruby" Roitsch; and her dear friend, Lisa (Duffin) Rexroat.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son, Mark Prasse.
After graduating from Wellington High School, Marcia received her degree from Northwestern University and moved to Cleveland, OH where she met Earl. Marcia and Earl later moved to Illinois and farmed for thirty years. She worked at John Greer Elementary School for nearly two decades and was an organist at the Milford and Hoopeston Lutheran churches for more than 30 years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville with Rev. James Yonkers officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service. Burial will follow at the Amity Cemetery near Goodwine.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mark E. Prasse Memorial Scholarship Fund, University of Illinois Foundation, Harker Hall, 1305 W. Green, Urbana, IL 61801.
Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.
