Danville, IL - Lois M. Cooper, 91 of Danville, passed away at 7:35pm on May 31, 2025 at Accolade Healthcare of Danville. A memorial service will be 10:30am Wednesday, June 11th at Southside Church of Christ, 611 Forrest Street in Danville with Pastor Dave Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Danville National.
Lois was born June 9, 1933 in Danville to Hubert and Rosamond (Duff) Garretson. She married Bill Cooper November 26, 1955 and they had two sons, Aron and Eric. She attended Fairchild School and Danville High School. Lois graduated from Eastern Illinois University. She worked at Tilton Grade School and Douglas Elementary school as a secretary for twenty years. Lois was an alderwoman for the City of Danville for Ward 2 for twenty years, and she really enjoyed doing so.
Lois enjoyed traveling, painting, sewing, playing BINGO, and spending time with family and friends. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by her sister Nancy (Rich) Beavois; son Eric Cooper; daughter-in-law Laura Cooper; grandchildren: Justine (Jonas) Story, Amy Cooper (Marshall Peaslee), and Jake Cooper (Rachel Irby); and her great-grandchildren: Caydence, Alexus, and Amahya Peaslee, Jillian, James, and Joseph Story, Ava and Remmington Cooper; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Cooper, and son Aron R Cooper.
