Linda Kay Hughes Obituary
Arvada, CO - Linda Kay (Pearson) Hughes, formerly of Georgetown, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, at her home. She was born on August 7, 1943, in Clinton, IN, the daughter of Eliza and Augusta (Smith) Pearson.
Linda was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dan Hughes, and together they shared 60 years of marriage and raised two children. She was a devoted wife and mother who built a life centered on love, partnership, and family.
She is survived by her son, Chad Hughes (Shelly) of Conifer, Colorado; her daughter, Beth Hughes of Arvada, Colorado; her grandchildren, Schuyler (Ashley) Hughes, Cade Hughes, and Easton Hughes, and great-granddaughter, Bailey Hughes, all of Colorado.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her siblings: brothers Dean (Irene), Merle (Beulah), Ocel (Arlene), Billy (Jean Ann), Ronald (Shirley), and Richard (Ruby) Pearson; and sisters Pauline (George) Zick, Katherine (Ore) Vacketta, Marjorie (Robert) Gauldin, Ruth (Mike) Barney, and Patricia Pearson.
After attending business school, Linda enjoyed a successful career in secretarial and bookkeeping services. She took great pride in her work and was known for her diligence, reliability, and attention to detail. She was a former member of the Booster's Club, where she and Dan volunteered together and built lasting friendships. Linda was fun, funny, and adventurous, enjoying lifelong friendships with other couples and embracing activities such as card games, bunco, square dancing, and community events, festivals, and dances. She had a genuine openness to trying new things and brought warmth and humor wherever she went.
Creativity was a constant throughout her life. Linda was talented in many crafts, including cross-stitch, crochet, ceramics, and tole painting. She especially enjoyed woodworking projects alongside her husband—Dan crafted the pieces, and Linda brought them to life with her painting. She was also passionate about her volunteer work as an active member of Crossroads Christian Church in Danville, IL.
Family was always central to who Linda was. As the youngest of fifteen children, she remained deeply proud of her family and her place within it. That pride extended to her passion for genealogy. She dedicated countless hours to researching and maintaining her family tree, a project she cared for meticulously up until her passing.
Linda's legacy reminds us of the enduring importance of great love for family and friends.
