Lela Witherspoon Obituary

Lela (Roberts) Witherspoon of Danville IL left this life on June 5, 2020 after battling cancer. She was 83.

Lela was born at home in Martinsville, IL. on Dec. 10, 1936 to Leona and Roy Roberts.

She is survived by her 4 children. Vicki (Andy) Verhoeven, Sheryl Olivier, Tony Witherspoon all of Minden, Nevada and Rhonda Gale of Oakwood, IL.

Lela is also survived by 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was the youngest of 14 children. Surviving siblings are Doit, Earl, Dean, Norma and and Ernestine. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Ted) Witherspoon on Feb, 9, 2020, also her grandson Jody Wood, and 9 siblings.

Lela and her late husband of 65 years spent many younger years boating, camping, snowmobiling and became snowbirds at their Florida home.

Lela worked at Sears several years and also helped with the family businesses Witherspoon Excavating and Witherspoon Body Repair and Car Sales preparing the paperwork.

Lela was always ready to laugh and have fun. She loved spending time with her family and loved shopping at Carson's before it closed. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Lela will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be set at a later date.
