ATTICA, IND. - Laura Jane Gaskill Carter, 94, of rural Attica, passed away in Williamsport Health and Rehabilitation Center, Williamsport, on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at 4:40 a.m.

Laura was born in Providence, R.I. on June 16, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Ollie Cullen and Pearl Gold. Laura later moved to Kentucky.

On Dec. 2, 1950, Laura married J. Harold "Buck" Gaskill in Valparaiso, Ind. They later moved to Attica in 1952. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1983. On May 17, 1986, Laura married Raymond "Ray" C. Carter in Chase, Ind. He survives.

Laura formerly worked at Purdue University in housekeeping at Hawkins Grad House. She was a member of Bethel Community Church. She was a member and Past President of Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles Lodge # 2596 of Attica.

She leaves behind her husband, Ray Carter of 30 years; two step-sons, Randy E. (Joyce) Carter and Raymond J. "Jerry" Carter, both of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Colby (Yvonne) Baker, LaStar (Scott) Watkins, twins Hannah (Ruben) Montoya and Haley Carter; two great-grandchildren, Mia and David Watkins. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Everette Raymond Carter.

Friends may call at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, Sept. 23 from 5- 8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 12 p.m. with Pastor John Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Community Church.
