Catlin - Kathleen Jane Harby, 98, of Catlin, passed away at 9:45 am Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Fountain Spring Assisted Living in Covington, IN.

Kathleen was born May 23, 1925, in Fairmount, IL. the daughter of David Arthur and Pauline Jones Thomas. She married George Edward Harby on March 14, 1948, in Fairmount, IL. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1981. Survivors include: one daughter, Kay (Ronald) Smoot of Catlin; one son, David (Terry) Harby of Catlin; son-in-law, Mike Pirtle; seven grandchildren, Matthew Smoot, Jedediah (Tara) Smoot, Kylynn (Nick) Bialeschki, Stevenson (Carly) Harby, Andrew (Courtney) Harby, Grace Pirtle, and Grant Pirtle; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Sue Ann Pirtle, and one brother, Robert Thomas.

Kathleen worked at the Veteran Administration as a clerk. She was a member of the Catlin United Methodist Church where she was very involved and served on many committees, and taught Sunday School. She was a hospice volunteer and a member of the Danville Christian Women, where she held office. She also served on the Catlin Historical Society Board. She enjoyed gardening, going to Danville Dans Games, and was an Illini football and basketball fan.

Funeral services 11am Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Catlin United Methodist Church with Trevor Oetting officiating. Burial in Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin. Visitation 5-7 pm Friday, May 10, 2024, at Catlin United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Catlin United Methodist Church or the Catlin Historical Society.
