Fairmount, Illinois - John Edward Thomas, 60, of Fairmount, Illinois, passed away at 9:44 pm on Monday, June 17, 2024, at his home.

John was born January 26, 1964, in Indianola, Illinois to Bobby "Bob" D. and Betty Staley Thomas. He married Pamela "Pam" Kay Drollinger on October 31, 1987, in Catlin, Illinois. She survives. Also surviving are: his mother Betty Thomas of Indianola, Illinois; one son: Zach Thomas of Fairmount, Illinois; two daughters: Britt (Aaron) Cain of Danville, Illinois and Katelyn (Fiancé Drake Arnold) Thomas of Hume, Illinois; one brother: Brian Thomas of Indianola, Illinois; and eight grandchildren: Sophia McDaniels, Lydia Cain, Aaron John Cain, Jr., Lakota Thompson, Haiden Thompson, Hunter Thompson, Greyson Arnold, and Owen Arnold. He was preceded in death by his father.

John graduated from Jamaica High School and served three years in the US Army and two years in the US Army reserves. He worked for ten years at Meadow Gold and twenty-eight years at Quaker Oats in Danville. He was a member of the Illinois Trapper Association and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and loved spending time with his grandkids. John had many friends including his special friends: Otto Collins, Tim Prunkard, Darren Richards, Troy Pate, and Allen Ford.

Funeral services 2 pm on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois with Pastor James Blue officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola, Illinois with military honors accorded by the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203.
