Tilton - John H. Hefling, 91, of Tilton, passed away at 11:15 pm. Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at his home.

He was born on October 22, 1931, in Newton, Kansas the son of Roger and Edith Huffman Hefling. He married Mary Stingley on December 23, 1954, in Danville, IL. She preceded him in death on September 17, 1987. He later married Wanda Baird on June 24, 1988, in Covington, IN. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2019. Survivors include: two daughters, Candy Hill of Tilton and Deborah Hefling of Indianapolis, IN; daughter-in-law, Lisa Hefling of Frankfort, IN; one sister, Jeanette Leroux of Columbia, MO; two brothers: Joel Hefling of Platte, South Dakota and Jerry (Jerri) Hefling of Paola, Kansas; and four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; special son-in-law: Stacey Gooch. He was preceded in death by two sons, John Harvey Hefling and Timothy Hefling, one son-in-law, Robert Hill, and one brother: Jim Hefling.

John served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, motorcycle riding, and word search puzzles.

Funeral services 10:30 am Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Robison Chapel in Catlin with Pastor Ryan Harris officiating and Ramona Logan as the eulogist. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Danville, IL with American Legion Post 210 providing military honors. Visitation 5-7 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Robison Chapel.
