Jodi Sue (Broeckelman) Latoz, 46 of Champaign, unexpectedly passed away on April 20, 2023. She was born October 5, 1976 in Danville, IL, the daughter of Allen L. and Bobbi B. (Sanders) Brockelman. Jodi grew up in Cayuga, IN and attended North Vermillion High School. After high school, Jodi took accounting courses at Danville Area Community College and worked at Walgreen's Accounting in Danville.

Jodi and her former husband, Neil Latoz, married in 1995. They share two adult children, Morgan Latoz of Chrisman, IL and Joshua Latoz of Perrysville, IN. They survive. Jodi had a younger daughter, Vada Moore, 12, of Colfax, IN who was lovingly adopted by Jodi's sister, Kim, and brother-in-law, Jeff. Jodi loved all her children and was immensely proud of their many accomplishments.

Jodi went on to share her life and a 10-year relationship with her surviving partner, Danny Thompson of Champaign, to whom her family is ever grateful for the unconditional love and care he provided for Jodi during her most difficult times.

Although Jodi's life was one complicated by abuse and addiction, she had an inspiring way of holding out hope for her situation to improve, often fighting physical illness, pain and financial barriers to seek treatment, and even finding humor in the unthinkable as a way of comforting those around her. In her last decade of life, Jodi developed an elevated sense of empathy and kindness for those often forgotten by society, including people experiencing homelessness and the wildlife she encountered on her walks around Champaign. These acts of pure kindness were motivated by her own painful experiences and the strong conviction that the weakest among us, including people suffering from addiction, are worthy of our compassion, love, and respect.

Jodi is also survived by two sisters, Traci (Ted) Latoz of West Lafayette, IN, Kimberly (Jeff) Moore of Colfax, IN, nieces Kaylynn Miller of Perrysville, IN and Zoe Latoz of West Lafayette, IN, nephews Zack Latoz of Attica, IN and Jimmy Miller of Newport, IN, and her father, Allen Broeckelman, of Lebanon, MO.

Jodi was preceded in death by her mother Bobbi Sanders-Broeckelman-High-Laking and an infant brother, Mark Broeckelman.

According to Jodi's wishes, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the homeless shelter, food bank, or animal shelter of the donor's choice.
