Hoopeston, Illinois - Jennie Roberts (Wilson) Stipp of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at Autumn Fields Adult Community, Hoopeston, IL, at 3:30 A.M. on Friday, October 18, 2024. She was 98 years old, born on February 14, 1926, at her parents' home in rural Rankin, the daughter of Wilbur Cyrus Wilson and Mildred (Fisher) Wilson. She graduated from East Lynn High School in 1943.

On June 9, 1946, she married Ray Eugene Stipp at Marshall, Clark County, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1988. Surviving her is a son, Gordon Ray (Renee) Stipp of Hoopeston; a son-in-law, Steve Sheppard of rural Hoopeston, IL; seven grandchildren, Alan Sheppard, Mark Sheppard, Brad Sheppard, Sara E. Stipp, Jason P. (Kendall) Stipp, Nathan S. Stipp, and Megan (Michael) Gagnon; along with eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Jennie was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Ann Sheppard; her parents; two sisters, Ruth (Edward) Johnson and Lois (Don) McConnell; and one brother, Richard (Lorraine) Wilson.

Jennie worked eighteen years as a receptionist and bookkeeper for the family business of Hoopeston Fertilizer Company. She was a member of Hoopeston United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for eight years, also Circle Leader, and various other committees. She volunteered for Senior Adult Meal deliveries for many years, and she was a life member of the Hoopeston Historical Society, as well as the Rossville Historical Society. Jennie enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling for many years, and was an avid Illini and Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed working on her computer, knitting, and making dish cloths for family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. Friday, October 25, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 P.M., with Rev. Michael Stipp officiating. Burial will follow at the East Lynn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jennie's name to the Hoopeston United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL 60942 or Carle Hospice.
