Indiana  Cook


Indiana Cook, 106, of Veedersburg, Ind., passed away at 8:34 a.m. EDT Monday, September 9, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Ind.
Indiana was born March 18, 1913, in Jefferson County, Indiana, near Hanover, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Margaret Lillian (Gill) Smith.
She married Marion Cook on January 10, 1951, in Sterling, Ind. He preceded her in death March 24, 2014.
She also is preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.
Surviving family include many nieces and nephews, including two special nieces and caregivers Holly Frazier, and Clara Kidwell both of Veedersburg.
In her earlier years, she had been a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Jefferson County, Indiana. After moving to Veedersburg in 1950, she had worked from home as a seamstress, doing alterations for many local people both on clothing and drapes. She also made many quilts during her lifetime.
Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, September 13, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor David Inskeep officiating. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday and continue until the time of service. Burial with graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14, at New Prospect Cemetery near Hanover, Ind., with Pastor Leonard Thorpe officiating.
