Potomac - Herbert Lewis "Herbie" Gebhart, 87, of Potomac, passed away at 11:54 am Saturday, July 22, 2023, at his home after losing his courageous battle with cancer.

Herbie was born on July 10, 1936, in Veedersburg, IN the son of Edgard and Dorothy Poole Gebhart. Survivors include: his loving companion of 30 years, Melissa "Missy" "Sweetie" Brown; one son, Herb Gebhart of Clearwater, FL; three daughters, Corrinea "Rena" (Dan) Schmidt of Casper, WY, Melissa "Missy" Gebhart of Tilton, and Sheila (Wade) Smith of Veedersburg; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Jannsen of Casper, WY, Jessica (Derek) Harkins of Bismarck, ND, and Alayna (Devin) Shaw of Crawfordsville, IN; six great grandchildren, Colby, Owen, Aidan, Ailee, Maya, and Malachi; and several nieces and nephews, and one special nephew Robby Kitterman. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Gebhart, and sister, Sharlynn Asbell.

Herbie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served as a ground radio operator and Crypto operator. He was awarded the AF Longevity service award and good conduct medal. He retired from Tilton Pattern. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and golfing. He especially enjoyed attending Thursday afternoon safety meetings.
