Helen Louise (Huber) Heath died at 9:15 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the age of 94.
Mrs. Heath was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Danville, to Otto and Clara (Lonergan) Huber. She married Norman Thirion in Danville. She later married Charles W. Heath in Champaign.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Charles Heath; her brother, Lorenz Huber; her infant daughter, Michelle; her daughter, Karen Sayers; her son, Mark Thirion; and her close friend, Alvin Bray.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Robert) Carrico of Champaign and Nancy (David) Burge of Champaign. Also surviving Mrs. Heath are eight grandchildren, Michael (Marie) Burge of Mahomet, Scott (Alicia) Burge of Seymour, Eric (Kellie) Burge of Bossier City, La., Christy (Cameron) Crouch of Mahomet, William Carrico of N.C., Kevin Thirion of Jacksonville, Fla., Jason Thirion of Jacksonville, Fla., and Angela Sayers of Washington. In addition, she is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Heath attended college at St. Mary of the Woods in Terre Haute, Ind., graduated from Rosary College in River Forest, Ill. and did graduate work at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. She was director in charge of the libraries at Marquette until 1940 when she returned to Danville to be married. She was the director of Carle Clinic Medical Record Department for 20 years during which time she also performed consultant work with nursing homes in the state. She also worked with the state of Illinois as a forms coordinator revising birth and death certificates.
Helen traveled extensively all over the world. Her favorite destinations were Ireland and New Zealand. Helen enjoyed music, reading, shelling in Florida, flowers, and playing canasta. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, from 5-7 p.m. at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, Ill., with a rosary recited at 4:30 p.m.
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1304 Lincolnshire Drive, Champaign. The Reverend Robert Rayson will officiate. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Danville.
