Demotte, Indiana - Eleanor M. Hodgeman, 96, formerly of Bourbonnais and Danville, Ill., passed away on July 27, 2026 at Aperion Care in Demotte, Ind. Eleanor was born March 9, 1930 in West Frankfort, Ill., the daughter of the late John & Anna {Fulton} Zanter. She married James T. Hodgeman on Dec. 25, 1947 in West Frankfort. He passed away May 31, 2002. Her daughter Karen Hodgeman passed away April 12, 2009 as well as her son Thomas Hodgeman on June 30, 2021.

Surviving is her granddaughter Bridget (Bill) Hillestad of Hebron, Ind.; a special great-grandson Zachary (Emma) Hillestad, also of Hebron, Ind.; a great-great grandson Adam Hillestad; and a sister-in-law Vivian Hodgeman of Royalton, Ill. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and several cousins. In addition to her husband and children, 5 sisters, a brother, and a brother-in-law have preceded her in death.

Eleanor worked at Eureka Printing Co. & Time-O-Matic. She enjoyed her family and hobbies.


A committal service celebrating her life will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 1:00 pm CST at Sunset Memorial Park's Mausoleum Chapel, located at 3901 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. In lieu of flowers, please give to the American Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Association. Sunset Funeral Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL assisted her family with arrangements.
