Casselberry, FL formerly of Danville, IL - Douglas Wayne Wendt, 65, of Casselberry, FL (formerly of Danville, IL), passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Orlando, FL.

Doug was born on July 10, 1959, the son of Howard Carl and Juanita (Whisler) Wendt in Danville, IL.

Doug is survived by his mother, Juanita Whisler Wendt of Danville, IL; his brother Alan (Christina) Wendt of Champaign, IL; his nephews, Jason (Amanda) Buck, John (Jill) Shutes, Alex (Kayla) Wendt, and Christopher (Lindsey) Wendt; his nieces, Jennifer (Jared) Harris and Jamie (Rodney) Judy; his sister-in-law, Louise (Dean) Walter and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Doug is preceded in death by his father, Howard Carl Wendt; his sister, Jacqueline Wendt Buck; his brother-in-law, Joseph Buck and his nephew, Jordan Buck.

Doug graduated from Bismarck-Henning High School and worked at World Class Cars (Green Chevrolet) in Danville. Doug later moved to Casselberry, FL where he was employed as the Parts Manager at Classic Mazda in Orlando. Doug was a lifelong fan of IMSA, IndyCar and Formula 1 racing. He was a talented racing photographer who spent much of his free time attending and photographing racing events. Doug's love for motorsports began with his family's tradition of attending the Indianapolis 500 and it was a tradition he continued throughout his life.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Brett Guthrie will officiate. The visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home. The burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.
