Dorothy Belnap Parker
Former Danville resident Dorothy B. Parker, 91, died in Huntsville, Ala., on October 26, 2019.
Born July 29, 1928, in Evanston, Ill., Dorothy was raised in Winnetka and was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She married Danville native Philip Bishop Parker in 1950.
She is survived by her three children, Nancy O'Brien of South Bend, Ind., Charlie (Laura) Parker of Chicago, and Jodi (Mitchell) Williams of Huntsville, Ala. She has three grandsons, Conor Parker O'Brien of Toronto, Charles Williams of Angier, N.C., and Drew Williams of Georgetown, Ky. She was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.
She was named Danville's "Homemaker of the Year" by the Commercial-News at one time and was active in many school and volunteer activities.
Dorothy went back to college, earned an accounting degree from UAB in 1974, and went to work for South Central Bell in Birmingham, Ala., where she headed up the internal Auditing Group of Corporate Reports.
Mom enjoyed a life filled with many friends, a loving husband and a large and embracing family. We will miss her smile, her positivity and her open arms.
An informal family service will take place next summer in Wisconsin.
