Donald Gene Maltsberger, 93, of Covington IN, passed away at his residence 5:08 PM Thursday November 2, 2023 with his family at his side.

Don was born April 14, 1930 in Veedersburg, IN the son of Scott Albert and Amy (Hershberger) Maltsberger. He married Judith A Lang at First Baptist Church in Covington July 19, 1959; she preceded him in death June 22, 2003.

He is also preceded in death by a sister, Doris J. Brookshire; and a nephew Scott Brookshire.

Surviving family include two daughters, Angela (Richard) Stringfellow, Williamsport, IN; Sheryl Maltsberger, Decatur, IL; two nieces, Carolyn (Ed) Gilbert, Wabash IN; and Sharon (Dan) Rozycki, Freemont MI.

Don attended Rabb School and graduated from Perrysville High School in 1950. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1952-1955 stationed aboard the USS Menard. Don was employed for over 35 years at Olin/Flexel near Covington; most of those years working in the powerhouse. Don & Judy also had an upholstery shop and a ceramic shop he operated from his home for many years.

He was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton Illinois.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM (EST) Monday November 6, 2023 at Dickerson Funeral Home 303 N Main St Veedersburg IN with Pastor Dan Kitinoja officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon (EST) Monday November 6 and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at Mt Hope Cemetery near Covington, IN.
