Dallas J Ponder
Dallas J. Ponder, 80, of rural Veedersburg, Ind., passed away at 6:54 p.m. EDT Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
Dallas was born November 28, 1938, near Veedersburg, the son of William Robert "Bill" and Mildred A. "Milly" (Nicklas) Ponder. They have preceded him in death.
He married Cynthia J. Harrison on September 18, 1957, in Ringgold, Ga.
Surviving family include his wife, Cynthia J. Ponder, Veedersburg; two daughters, Julia Christine (Kevin) Hart, Monticello, Ind., and Claudia Jane (Bill) Surguy, Plymouth Ind.; two sons, Jeffrey Charles (Lisa) Ponder, Veedersburg, and Clark Jay (Shaun) Ponder, Veedersburg; a sister, Donna (Mike) Cunningham, Veedersburg; six grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon) Ward, Tiffany (Sean) Alexander, Brooke Ponder, Sonja (Taner) Eads, Colin (Brianna) Hart, Noah Surguy; three great-grandchildren, Halle Jo Ward, Harrison Jay Ward, Graylynn Eads.
Dallas graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1956, and attended Purdue University. He was employed at TeePak in Danville, Ill., for 47 years prior to his retirement. He also was a lifelong grain farmer and had raised Charolais beef cattle for many years, along with raising a few peacocks.
He was a member of Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg. His other memberships include the Indiana Charolais Association, A.I.C.A. and Indiana Beef Cattle Association.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. EDT Friday, October 18, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at noon EDT Friday and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions be given to Sterling Christian Church, Indiana Junior Charolais Association, or Indiana Junior Beef Cattle Association. Online condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.com

He was the best boss I ever had at Tee Pak in Quality Control. He was always kind and gentle in whatever he asked us to do. Cindy I'm so sorry he passed away.

Dallas was always helping others in the 4-H beef program. He was highly respected.
Dallas had to accept his wife being silly at
the 4-H Fair. He was very gentle and kind.
I have you in my prayers that God will hold you in his arms and support you.
