Danville, IA - Dr. Dallas LaVerne Grant, born September 9, 1945, in Herrin, IL, to Lowell LaVerne "Cubby" Grant and Mary Garland Burden Grant, was raised in Ferges and educated in Johnston City and Marion, IL. A multi-sport athlete at Marion High School, he earned a baseball scholarship to Murray State University, where he met his wife, Carolyn Mae Hopper. They were married June 3, 1967. Dallas later earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1979.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; and his wife, Carolyn, who passed away June 4, 2024, one day after their 57th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his children, Renee (Brent) Schulte of Urbandale, IA; Angela (Kent) Sulzberger of Morton, IL; Brian Grant of Eden Prairie, MN; and Kevin (Sandy) Grant of Harrisburg, PA; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathie (Floyd) Brush and Lana (Dave) Peck.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dave Krache Foundation or American Legion Youth Baseball.
