He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gwen McCord; and infant sister, Jane Ann McCord.
After graduating from East Lynn High School, Dale worked as a barber and at American Can. In 1977, he took over his dad's fuel truck route at Vermilion Service Company, later becoming Illini FS, which he did for 40 years. He loved his family, especially his granddaughters, who referred to him as "Paw Paw FS", taking them on golf cart rides and to their various activities. He was very supportive of his family, rarely missing any of their events. Dale also enjoyed socializing at his shop, working on his cars, collecting fuel memorabilia, and restoring gas pumps.
Dale's personality was truly larger than life. He was a natural people person and able to form friendships with anyone.
