Cheryl Ann Richards Obituary
Danville, IL - The world lost some of its love and laughter on Thursday, January 30, 2025 when Cheryl Ann Richards, 65, of Danville, was called Home to be with The Lord after a six-month battle with glioblastoma. Visitation will be from 10-Noon on Thursday, February 6th at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville, with Funeral Services starting at Noon. Pastor Jim Boudouris will officiate. After services Cheryl will be laid to rest beside her father at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Cheryl entered this world on August 24, 1959 to Harold and Phyllis (Carder) Estock. She graduated from Oakwood High School in 1977, attended DACC, and then went to The Lakeview School of Radiologic Technology where she graduated in 1983. Cheryl worked at Carle Foundation Hospital for over thirty years as a Radiological Technician; she retired in 2016. Never one to be still, Cheryl has worked visitations and services for Kruger Funeral Home since 2013.
When Cheryl wasn't working, she loved to travel all over the country with her husband Rex; by land and by sea. They traveled by land to all 48 of the Northern states, and then cruised the Southern Caribbean once, and the Eastern Caribbean three times. She also enjoyed her animals (except for snakes), being outdoors and surrounded by nature, painting, jigsaw puzzles, and reading. Cheryl had a sense of humor that topped everyone else, and was often pranking her friends and co-workers and playing practical jokes.
Cheryl leaves behind husband Rex, who has spent the last twenty-seven years by her side as her best friend. Her children Ryan (Audrey) Brady, Jeremy Brady (Amy Trees), Carol Smith, David (Altara) Richards, and Eric (Melissa) Richards; fourteen grandchildren, including her newest granddaughter whom she just met Daisy Noelle Brady; numerous great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Kathleen Estock; uncle: Alan (Val) Carder; aunt: Nancy (Bill) Taylor; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Cheryl also leaves behind an enormous extended family of friends, neighbors, adopted grandchildren, church members, and co-workers. And not to be forgotten, her fur babies Clark, Capone, and Coontail miss their Mom already. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, brother Mark Estock, and a son Rex Richards III.
The family is most grateful for the family and friends who have been there day in and day out helping with Cheryl's care: Jo and Ron Rife, Vickie and Jimmy Means, Butch Amos, Joy Boggs, Deb Turner, and Olivia Humphreys. Tanya from Carle Hospice was also amazing with Cheryl's care and we appreciate the love she showed us. Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.KrugerCoanPape.com, or on the Kruger Funeral Home Facebook page. Memorials may be made in Cheryl's name to Bismarck First Church of Christ.
