Charles Duane Shumaker, 91, of rural Veedersburg, passed away at his residence 12:55 PM Thursday March 13, 2025.

Duane was born February 25, 1934 in Wabash Township, Fountain County, IN the son of Grant and Ruby (Orahood) Shumaker. He married Nancy Tornquist May 10, 1957 in Veedersburg IN.

Surviving family include his wife Nancy Shumaker, Veedersburg; four sons, Dan (Cathy) Shumaker, Lafayette; Kelvin (Anna) Shumaker, Olathe, KS; Tim (Kathryn) Shumaker, Veedersburg; Kenneth (Valli) Shumaker, Covington; a daughter, Lucinda (Dan) Sichting, Brookston IN; eleven grandchildren, Doug (Megan) Shumaker, Angela (John) Sliger, Bethaney (Cody) Burlew, Jessica Shumaker, Mackenzie (Brayden) Alward, Gabrielle Shumaker, Aidan Shumaker, Peyt Shumaker, Kendall Shumaker, Ellen (Chad) Sichting, Danielle Sichting; five great grandchildren, Hunter Burlew, Jaxon Sliger, Mackenna Shumaker, Declan Shumaker, Hadley Alward; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ellen Shumaker; three sisters, Kathleen Allen, Phyllis Rayphole, Virginia Dark; two brothers, Robert Shumaker, and Dean Shumaker.

Duane graduated from Perrysville High School in 1954. He was employed at Marshall Studios for ten years, and was employed at Tee-Pak in Danville IL for 33 years prior to his retirement in 1997. His greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Coopers Chapel Cemetery State Road 32, Covington IN with Pastor Ryan Sowers officiating.
