Catlin - Charles "Chuck" Stephen Inman, 88, of Catlin, passed away at 6:05 pm Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at OSF St. Joseph Hospital in Bloomington, IL. He died peacefully after a prolonged battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Chuck was born April 27, 1936, in Paris, IL., the son of Orville and Josephine Black Inman. He married Hila Laufman on October 20, 1957, at the Horace Baptist Church in Paris, IL. They were married almost sixty-seven years. She survives. Also surviving: his daughters, Becky (Dave) Hewitt and Julie (Kevin) Rudolph; six grandchildren, Brooke (Brad) Krall, Britni (Sebastian) Ciejka, Cortni Rudolph, Drew (Jessica) Hewitt, Malori (Adam) Whitford, and Bailie (Alex) Cundiff; and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Ronnie Inman.
Chuck was a well-known local barber who cultivated a sixty-year legacy in Catlin, IL, establishing his barbershop as a cornerstone of the community. Often offering free haircuts and the iconic penny gumballs. Chuck & Hila previously owned a gift shop in Catlin called "The Villager". He loved dogs and was a member of the local Collie & Sheltie Kennel Club, raising champion Shelties. Chuck was always friendly and enjoyed going for a cup of coffee, talking to friends and strangers. Most of the time he knew someone everywhere he went. He knew Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton, IL, where he served in different roles through the years. Chuck loved spending time with "all" his family and their times together were always filled with joy and laughter.
Memorial services 2 pm Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton with Dan Kitinoja & Joe Humrichous officiating. Visitation 1-2 pm Wednesday prior to the service at the church. There will be a private burial held at Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin, IL. Robison Chapel in Catlin is assisting the family with service details. On-line condolences at www.robisonchapel.com.
