DANVILLE - Carmen L. "Starkey" Pilkington, 95, of Danville, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Hawthorne Inn in Danville.
She was born March 19, 1923, in Danville, Ill., to Rolland and Doris Johnson Starkey.
Carmen married Mervin "Merv" Pilkington October 22, 1941, in Danville. He passed away December 13, 2011.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Montgerard of Danville, Delynne (Bruce) Stanley of Defiance, Ohio, and Gail Villarreal of St. Joseph, Ill.; a brother, Marvin (Judy) Starkey; two sisters, Judy Swider, Nancy (Jim) Moore; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Victor, and four brothers.
Carmen retired from the Sears store in Danville after 14 years, was a life member of Jewel-White VFW Post 728 and the Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, was an avid reader and loved bowling. She especially enjoyed keeping up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Robison Chapel in Catlin. Pastor Zach LeCrone will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Danville. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Robison Chapel.
