HILLSBORO - Brooky May (Hutson) Harshbarger, 89, of Hillsboro, passed away in the emergency room of the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Crawfordsville, on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at 2:50 a.m.

Brooky was born south of Hillsboro, Ind., on Sept. 12, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Harry Verner and D. Undine (Harding) Hutson. Brooky was a life resident of the Hillsboro community, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1945.

On May 19, 1945, Brooky married Harold LeRoy Harshbarger in Darlington Christian Church. Together, Harold and Brooky farmed the family farm south of Hillsboro for many years. Harold preceded Brooky in death on April 25, 2006.

Brooky was an active member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church and was active in the Methodist Church Women. She was a member of Harmony Club in Hillsboro. She was an avid doll collector, collecting Madam Alexander and Barbie Dolls.

Brooky leaves behind her son, David L. (Sally) Harshbarger, Kalispell, Mont.; a daughter, Sue Lynn (the late-Randall) Anderson, Crawfordsville, Ind.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lena Boling, Pasadena, Calif., Margaret Starkey, Tonica, Ill., and Carson (Denton) Hoskins, Waynetown; two brothers, James C. Hutson, Veedersburg and Kenneth (Brenda) Hutson, Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eulalia Caldwell and three brothers, Joel E. Hutson, Melvin Hutson and Harold Hutson.

Friends may call at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro on Friday, Nov. 25 from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. with Pastor Frank Sablan officiating. Burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillsboro United Methodist Church.
