Beverly Jean (Martin) Suggs, 78, of Danville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 5, 2016 at 4:40 p.m. at home where she resided with her daughter.

She was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Danville, the daughter of Vertceil Thomas and Mary Madonna (Moore) Martin.

She married Thomas Alvin Suggs Jr. on Oct. 10, 1959, in Danville. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1998.

Beverly worked for Model Star Cleaners and Peterson Puritan up until her children were born and she then became a homemaker with an in home daycare. She cared for many children in the neighborhood. Her hobbies were spending time with her family, baking, gardening, and art. Beverly loved her family with all of her heart and was there for her children, grandchildren, and anyone she loved no matter the situation. She had a heart the size of the sun and a smile that could brighten a room. Rest on "Pretty Lady; we love you and we will see you again soon."

Beverly leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Cynette (Andrew) Bailey and her son, Robin (Tricia Summitt) Suggs, both of Danville; two sisters, Edna Rose Lewis of Akron, Ohio and Marvine Matthews of Huber Heights, Ohio; six granddaughters, Cierra Bailey (Shea Young), Casimir Bailey (Rapheal Olgesby), Robin (Mattew)

Fields, Beaunka Summitt, and Kanieah Williams of Danville and Brittany Morris of Charleston, Ill.; six grandsons, Andrew "Lil G" Bailey, An'Drew "Gio" Bailey, Izaiah Summitt-Suggs, Daltin Matthews, Sergio Nelson Sr., and Deeken Summitt; 13 great-grandchildren, Jovan, Justyce, JaKobe, and Shea (Jr.) Young, Rapheal Oglesby Jr., Addison, Aiden, Aaliyah, and Matthew (Jr.) Fields, Sergio Jr. and O'Lani Nelson,

Aamijha Rapier and Braylee Morris; two very special great-nephews; Lorenzo Counce and Xavier Counce. A very special friend and caregiver, Peggy Foreman. Two very special sister-in-laws and best friends, Shirley Hendricks and Cynthia Counce; and a special group of school friends that she had lunch with up until she became ill and could no longer attend.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her maternal and paternal grandparents, eight brothers and one sister.

A celebration of life will commence at 12 noon Tuesday, Sept. 13, at St. Synagogue COGIC, 2605 East Main Street, Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Officiating Elder Hubert Suggs. Interment: Atherton Cemetery. Leek & Son Funeral Home, 304 East Williams Street, Danville, in charge of arrangements.
