Springfield - Betty R. Waggoner, of Springfield, died Thursday June 26, 2025, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Springfield. She was 93 years old.
She was born the daughter of Calbert and Wilma (Sinclair) Roberson on September 24, 1931, in Decatur, Illinois. Wilma later married William "Bill" Ney Hambrecht in 1950. They precede her in death. Betty is survived by her son, William (Sharon) Waggoner; daughter, Tracy (Neal) Hopkins; four grandsons; and ten great-grandchildren.
Betty and Jerry Waggoner were married in 1951 in San Diego, California. They moved to Danville Illinois in 1957. She was employed at General Electric in the Ballast Department as a Secretary for twelve years from 1959 until 1971. After that, she was employed at Hyster as a Senior Secretary for eleven years from 1971 until 1982 when she retired. They moved to Springfield Illinois in 2006.
Betty graduated from Decatur High School in 1949 with emphasis on business courses, shorthand, typing, and bookkeeping. In her later years, her hobbies were keeping records, reading, and studying about medicine, nutrition, and health.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm - 2:00pm Monday, July 7,2025 at Bisch Funeral Home West, Springfield, IL. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
