Barbara Jean (Anderson) Dare, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Williamsport Nursing Home, in Williamsport, Indiana.

Barb was born June 25, 1928 in Warren County, Indiana, to the late William and Josephine (Bernhart) Anderson. She attended Marshfield Grade School and graduated in 1946 from West Lebanon High School, with a total of five students in her class.

As a young woman, she lived a year in California and loved her time there. She worked at Olin, GE in Danville, IL, the ASCS office, Citizens State Bank in Williamsport, Attorneys Litzenberger & Litzenberger, and the Veterans Hospital in Danville, IL, and made life-long friends of some of her co-workers.

On March 10, 1962, Donald D. Dare and Barbara were married in Williamsport, Indiana. He predeceased her on May 1, 2023. They owned a favorite collie dog and kept several horses on their property. Barbara had a great sense of humor and will be remembered fondly as possessing a quick wit. (Having grown up with four brothers on the farm, she had plenty of practice.)

Barbara was always eager to travel and after Don's retirement, they enjoyed taking frequent and extended bus trips, visiting many parts of the continental U.S., including a lovely vacation to Alaska and a beautiful trip to Banff, Canada.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, four brothers and one sister predeceased Barbara: Milton, Robert, Duane, Melvin (Curley), and Helen Maxine Anderson.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport, Indiana, with a memorial service in the same location at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral at Highland Cemetery. Grady Funeral Home is assisting the family.
