Dana, Indiana - DANA-Barbara Jean Smith Bash, 90, of Dana, Indiana passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington. She was a retired registered nurse with St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Illinois and Ernie Pyle Elementary School. She was born May 15, 1933, in Danville, Illinois to the late Gerald T. Smith and Lavern Smoot Smith. Her husband of 44 years, Merle Leslie Bash whom she married October 25, 1953, preceded her in death June 10, 1998. Survivors include her children, Robert (Heidi) Bash of Granger, Vickie (Larry) Woody of Dana, Thomas (Ronn) Bash of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sandy (John) Lewis of Bloomington and Chris (Resa) Bash of Maceo, Kentucky; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jason T. Bash in 1973. She was a 1951 graduate of Danville (IL) High School and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She was a member of the St. Bernice Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, reading and spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors. Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 1, at Bono Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Keith B. McIntyre officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will follow. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville.
