Audrey Louise (Handley) Trees, 87, of Danville, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born, in Danville, on Nov. 12, 1928, the daughter of James and Thelma (Bremer) Handley.

She married Lealan "Lee" Trees on Feb. 11, 1948, in Joliet. He preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2010.

Audrey is survived by one daughter, Rhonda J. Vinson; two sons, Gregory L. (Freida) Trees and Ronald D. (Anna) Trees, all of Danville; two daughters-in-law, Jean Trees and Tina Trees; a son-in-law, Steve Vinson; three grandchildren, Tobi (Eric) Burnett, Tash (Amy) Trees and Andrew (Heather) Trees; six great-grandchildren, Grady and Griffin Trees, Bryce and Brennan Burnett, Wade and Wyatt Trees. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee; one son, Keith A. Trees; one sister, Gloria (Clint) Sandusky; two brothers, Robert G. (Geraldine) Handley and James "Jim" Handley.

Audrey was a graduate from Danville High School in 1947. After graduating, Audrey went to telegraphy school in Crawfordsville, Ind. and Joliet, so she could work at Western Union. She worked at General Electric for 17 years, part-time at Deutsch Bros. store and later she worked at University of Illinois; where she was the first female supervisor in the Physical Plant where she retired. Audrey was a member of Vermilion Heights Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidery, quilting, gardening and bingo. But most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Audrey and Lealan spent winters in Naples, Fla. for 14 years.

A Celebration of Audrey's Life will begin at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Vermilion Heights Christian Church, 725 Oakwood Ave., Danville. A memorial visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the church. Per Audrey's wishes, she will be cremated and Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, is handling arrangements.
