Tilton, Illinois - Arthur James Powell, 86, of Tilton, Illinois passed away at 12:48 pm on Tuesday, July 4, 202, at his home.

He was born October 28, 1936, in Vermilion County, Illinois to Palmer Isaac and Ary Mae Acree Powell. Surviving are: one daughter: Fern Jeanette Roberson Schmidt of Naples, FL; two brothers: Oscar Leroy Powell of Danville, Illinois and William Edward Powell of Georgetown, Illinois; two sisters: Lula Mae Stark of Georgetown, Illinois and Millie Jane Powell of Maryland; 3 sisters-in-law: Sharon Powell, Crystal Powell, and Shandra Powell; five grandchildren: Bradley Smith, Jenna Wombles, Stephanie Wombles, Alexander (Megan) Roberson, and Andrew Schmidt; and one great-granddaughter: Penelope Roberson. He was preceded in death by his former wife: Bonne K. Powell; one daughter: Janet Wombles; five brothers: Floyd, Donald, Paul, Robert, and Steve Powell; and one infant sister: Mary Powell.

Art attended Danville High School and served in the US Army. He was a pre-press printer for 40 years working at Col Well Graphics and RR Donnelley. Art's priority was his strong faith and his love for the large Powell family.

Graveside services will be at 1 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Bethel Cemetery, Danville, Illinois with Pastor Randy Downing officiating. Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois is handling the arrangements. Online condolences at www.robisonchapel.com.
