Ann Hartshorn Johannes was born May 31, 1926 in LaSalle, Illinois to Ira and Roxy Hartshorn. On June 10, 1952, she married Erwin (Ernie) Johannes.

Survivors include her children Janet Haff of Three Rivers, Michigan, Carol (Tim) Voegele of Greenwood, Indiana, and Bruce (Debbie) Johannes of Corydon, Indiana. Grandchildren include Cody (Meghan) Haff, Brett (Diana) Voegele, Chad (Caitlin) Voegele and great-grandchildren Jonah and Daphne Voegele, Jenna (Dominic) Voegele Troiani, Leah (Daniel) Johannes Cox and great-grandchild Benjamin and Andrew Johannes. Her sister Irene Coverdell, of Shiloh, Illinois also survives. Ann was proceeded in death by her husband Erwin and her sister Ruth Sroka.

Ann graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Geology and from Indiana State University with a degree in Library Science. Ann worked for Shell Oil Company in Lake Charles, Louisiana where she and Erwin met. Erwin and Ann moved to Covington, Indiana in 1956. Ann later worked as the librarian at Covington High School.

Erwin and Ann were U.S. and world travelers, enjoying many cross-country skiing, hiking and biking trips. Ann also enjoyed playing bridge and golfing with the ladies' league in Covington.

Ann volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, school room mom, library assistant and served on the Covington Public Library Board. She was a member of Psi Iota Xi, Coffeenians, American Association of University Women and Kappa, Kappa, Kappa. Ann was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church.

Burial service will be at Waltham Cemetery, Utica, Illinois on August 14, 2021.

Memorials may be made to the Western Indiana Community Foundation, Covington Circle Trail, or another charitable purpose of the Foundation.
