Raleigh, NC - Anita Dragoo was called home to the Lord on 14 November in Raleigh, NC. She passed peacefully, with family by her side.

Anita Rae Schingel was born to Maenette and George Schingel on 10 February 1938. She and her sisters Georgia and Nadean grew up in the small town of Fithian, IL.

Anita attended Schlarmann High School in Danville, IL, before studying and graduating from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. Anita later worked as a medical technician at the University of Illinois, where she met Robert Dragoo, a captain in the US Army. They married on 28 December 1974 in Urbana, IL.

Anita worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block for 34 years before retiring.

Anita and Robert made their home in many places: New Jersey, Florida, Arizona, Germany, California, and Pennsylvania, before settling in Raleigh, NC. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to travel and often spoke fondly of her time living overseas. Anita enjoyed spending time outside doing yard work and just enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and jigsaw puzzles. A devout Catholic, Anita was a generous person who loved to help others in need. As a mother and grandmother, she was always there to lend a listening ear and words of advice or encouragement. She was the kind of person you wanted in your corner, always ready to support and uplift those she loved.

Anita is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert, daughters Angi VanHoose of Deltona, FL and Mary (Tim) Rhinehardt of Melbourne, FL; and son Ian (Traci) Dragoo of Des Moines, IA, along with her grandchildren: Anthony, Zachary, Lindsay, Noah, Piper, and Leo. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
