Warren James Coker, 73, of Tilton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Warren was born March 22, 1943, in Bryson City, N.C., to James and Stella (Reagan) Coker.
Warren served 11 years in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After the military, Warren worked for the U.S. Post Office until his retirement. All the children called him Bigfoot and would walk in his shoe prints when it snowed.
Warren married Patricia Butler on June 10, 1971. She preceded him on Jan. 8, 2012. Warren then married Carol Rys on June 12, 2015, and they traveled and enjoyed every minute life gave them.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; three children, Michael (Jenny) Coker of Ohio, Daniel (Anita) Coker of Henning, David Coker of West Lebanon; stepson, Todd (Amber) Moore of Ogden; brother, Bruce Coker of Tennessee and sister, Betty Battles of Georgia; very special niece, Carla Adams; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia; son, Jason Coker; and sister, Doris Lovain.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at VA Protestant Chapel with Pastor David Lovain officiating. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 210. Rortvedt Funeral Services & Crematory is assisting the family.
