INDIANOLA - Wade Williams, 91, of Indianola, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at VA Illiana Health Care System.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1924, in Indianola, the son of Claude and Hallie Goodwin Williams.
He married Amber Mosier on Aug. 6, 1948 in Danville. She preceded him in death on July 2, 1987.
Survivors include one son, James Williams of Indianola; three daughters, Debra (Oliver) Yates of Springfield, Ill., Sonna Shook of Melbourne, Fla., and Jacqueline (Lee) Baird of Indianola; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Wade was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII, and was awarded a Bronze Star. He owned a garage in Indianola with his brother, Dale Williams, called Williams Garage. He worked for the Carroll Twp. Highway Dept. for 16 years. Wade retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he was a rural mail carrier for 29 years. He was a 60 year Mason and was an avid fisherman.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola with Pastor Gary Farris officiating.
