Danville Virgil E. Murphy, 78, of Danville, Illinois passed away at 7:32 pm on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Presence USMC, Danville, Illinois.
Virgil was born November 3, 1938 in Danville, Illinois to Frank Paul and Edna Mae Boyer Murphy. He married Joyce Thomas on May 14, 2011 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are: two sons: Keith (Jamie) Jennings of Georgetown and David (Laurie) Murphy of Danville; three daughters: Pam (Kevin) Vehlewald of Tilton, Lynn (Tom) Juvinall of Hawaii, Teresa Hamer of Danville; two step sons: James Thomas and Terry Thomas of Catlin; one brother: Paul (Mary Jo) Murphy of Florida; three sisters: Janet (Darnell) Gibson of Florida, Ruth (Joe) Tevebaugh of Danville, and Edna Handzel of Danville; eighteen grandchildren; Nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Larry Murphy and one daughter: Lori Murphy.
Virgil served in the National Guard. He was an assembly supervisor for Automation International. He retired in 2001 after 37 years. He loved cars and was a member of the Antique Auto Club Local #579. He was a member of the Heartland Music Association and Danville Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, country music, and camping.
Funeral service 1:30 pm on Thursday at Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois with Drew Mentzer officiating. Burial in Sunset Cemetery, Danville. Visitation 12:30 to 1:30 pm on Thursday at Robison Chapel.
