Veronica Michelle (Suggs) Keyes, 58, of Danville, transitioned from this life to be with her heavenly Father at 5:32 p.m. Aug. 8, 2016 at Presence USMC in Danville.
Veronica affectionately known as "Sut" is the daughter of the late Margaret E. and David T. Suggs, born Aug. 31, 1957 in Danville.
Veronica was united in Holy Matrimony to Dee Willie Keyes on Aug. 29, 1992. He survives. Veronica enjoyed attending church, cooking, helping and visiting the sick and shut in's at the hospitals and nursing homes and spending time with her family.
Veronica accepted Christ at a young age and wasn't hesitant in instilling Christian morals and values to her children and grandchildren. Veronica served faithfully at New Jerusalem Church of Jesus Christ under her brother-in-law, Pastor Bobby R. Keys Sr. She served as an usher and sang in the choir. Veronica recently relocated to Indianapolis and united with Purpose of Life Ministry in Indianapolis.
Veronica was a retired CNA from Danville Care Center. However, she continued ministering and delivering care to those in need.
Veronica leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband, Dee Willie Keyes; children: DeMetra Suggs, Kesha Suggs, Veronica (Brashon) Gouard all of Indianapolis, Deewan Keyes of Danville, and Karen McKenzie Burke of Louisville, Ky., and Douglas (Kelsey) Keys of Lafayette, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 17 siblings; her extended family whom treated her as one of their own; mother-in-law, Louise Keys and family; and a host of countless relatives and friends.
Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas Franklin, David Jr., and Thomas Allen Suggs; a daughter, Sylvia Keys; a grandson, Tiebryis D. Evans-Keys; brother-in-law's, Warren "Soc" Felix, Durwin Woodard and Junior L. Keys; and a sister-in-law, Joyce A. Wilkerson.
A celebration of life will commence at 12 noon, Monday, Aug. 15, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 North Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating Pastor Bobby R. Keys Sr. Interment Spring Hill Cemetery.
