DAVILLE - Thomas "Tom" E. Lipowsky, 84, of Danville, passed away peacefully at 5:52 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 at his home.
Tom was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Westville, to Nicholas and Anna Barney Lipowsky.
He married Shirley A. Mahoney on Jan. 29, 1955 in Tilton. She survives. Also surviving are one son: Michael E. (Tonya) Lipowsky of Decatur; one daughter: Sharen Ramsey of Ridge Farm; one sister: Caroline (Marshall) Pridemore of Westville; four grandchildren: Joshua (Misti) Stevens, Michael (Denise) Stevens, Anna Stevens, and Zachary Ramsey; six great-grandchildren: Trent, Blake, Christian, Dylan, Liam Stevens-Denae, and Gabriel Stevens; special niece and nephew: Lora and Gene Martyn; several nieces and nephews; many friends - he never knew a stranger; special friend: Kim Black Mahmood who cared for him as her own grandpa; and his friends, Scotty and Kevin, who dropped in and razzed him daily. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Mike and Frank Lipowsky and two sisters: Marie Wright and Virginia Watts.
Tom served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a welder at Allith in Danville for 35 years and Corelube for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion, UAW #532, and PACE Low Vision Organization. He loved piddling in the garage and playing euchre. He loved spending time with his family. His greatest joy was his 61 years with his wife.
Funeral services: 12 noon on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with Chaplain Deborah Harris officiating. Burial in Danville National Cemetery with military honors by Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Visitation 10 a.m.-12 noon on Tuesday at Robison Chapel, Catlin.
