Sylvia Buford, 61, of Danville, passed this life at 4:44 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born July 1, 1955 in Danville, to Orville and Shirley (Hall) Buford.
Sylvia worked for 40+ years as a CNA. She was most recently employed at the VA Medical Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and shopping.
Sylvia leaves to cherish her loving memory: one daughter, Tiaumbay Dye; two brothers, Edward (Mandee) Buford and Orville Buford Jr.; four sisters, Pamela Buford, Martha Buford, Deborah Buford and Celeste Buford; two grandchildren, Jeremiah Dye and Samariah Dye; a special aunt, Sylvia Gibson; special friends, Karen Britt, Tina Winslow, and Lesly Cook, a special nephew, Bryson Broom; and a host of family members and friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kevin Buford; and several aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life will commence at 12 noon Saturday, Feb. 11, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 North Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating Pastor Thomas W. Miller. Interment Spring Hill Cemetery. A public viewing will commence from 1-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 East Williams Street, Danville.
