Sharon Elaine Huxford, 77, of Covington, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at home following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 4, 1939 near Kingman the daughter of Dallas Ray and Irene (Kiger) Newnum.
Sharon was a 1957 graduate of Kingman High School and moved to Covington in 1966. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving as pianist, in the choir and assisting with Awana. She was a beauty operator for 20 years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with her husband. They operated Huxford Enterprises for many years, authoring and publishing books on antiques.
Sharon married Bobby Joe Huxford in Covington on Aug. 5, 1966 and he died Jan. 18, 2013. Surviving is a daughter, Marka Rae Woolwine of Covington; a son, Steven Wayne (Jill "Sare") Drollinger of Hillsboro; a brother, Gary Wayne (Donna) Newnum of Covington; a sister, Betty Evans of Crawfordsville; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Her parents; husband, son Michael Ray Drollinger; and a sister, Norma Jean Voorhees, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at First Baptist Church. Pastor Andy Harkleroad will officiate. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery.
